Wyoming Proud
I grew up in Wyoming on our family ranch. My great-great-grandfather immigrated from Denmark. After a short stint in Soda Springs, he moved to Jackson in June of 1894. Every generation since has worked on our ranch in Jackson, and service to Wyoming runs in the family. I’m proud to say my own children are the sixth generation to grow up in Wyoming. They attend the same school I did.
Wyoming Built
Wyoming has a way of shaping a person. It will break you down. It will build you up. It teaches you resilience, independence, and pragmatism. Everything I’ve done is because Wyoming built me to be this way. You can’t call in the cavalry in Wyoming, and the nearest expert is usually your neighbor. We don’t like being told what to do, what to think, or to complain about the way things are when it’s up to us to fix them.
Wyoming Strong
I’m addicted to solving difficult challenges. It’s in my bones. Coupled with a curious mind, this has served me well across a career spanning ranching, distilling, building orbital rocket components, and software development. I’ve learned that perfect is the enemy of good, and the job is never done.
Wyoming Service
There comes a time for every person where they realize that if they do nothing to change the way things are, they are complicit in the status quo. I can no longer sit on my hands and watch as our representatives seek to sell our public lands, spend our tax dollars carelessly, and divide the good people of Wyoming. It’s not my first time serving the people of Wyoming - I served the citizens of Kirby, Wyoming as Mayor. I learned firsthand that local government can make a real difference in people’s lives. I learned that anyone can change things for the better if only they have the willingness to do so. It’s not easy. It takes hard work, dedication and making sure that everyone’s voice is heard. Sometimes the best advice comes from your most ardent critics. It’s this energy that I will bring to Washington as Wyoming’s Senator - because Wyoming needs results, not noise.
The people of Wyoming have earned more than what they’ve been given. I intend to settle that debt. When I ride to Washington it will be bearing this message: these things that we hold dear - our people, our land, and our way of life, they are not for sale.
